GV video hardware cannot be used

FAQ ID:000019017 | Date:2024/10/16

Installed GV video hardware is detected in Windows device manager, but cannot be used in EDIUS

If EDIUS installer detects supported GV video hardware, it installs applicable driver as process of installation. If the hardware cannot be used in EDIUS, retry EDIUS installation for reinstallation of required driver.

Procedure

IMPORTANT NOTE
Sign into the OS with administrator privileges for taking all steps.

1) Shutdown the workstation then remove the video hardware.

2) Turn on the workstation.

3) From Apps, remove EDIUS. If “Deactivate the license” option appears in uninstallation wizard, untick the option then follow the wizard.

4) Once uninstallation completed, shutdown the workstation.

5) Install the video hardware.

6) Turn on the workstation.

7) Press Win + R key then type devmgmt.msc and click [OK].

8) Ensure that Multimedia Controller appears under Other devices. Once confirmed, close the device manager.

9) Run EDIUS installer. The installer will install required drivers.

10) If UAC screen appears, tick trust option then continue.

11) If [Restart] or [Shutdown] button appears at the end of installation wizard, click the button and restart or shutdown.

IMPORTANT NOTE

1. If [Restart] appears in the step#11, do NOT skip it. If skipped, installed hardware may not be able to work correctly.

2. If [Shutdown] button appears in the step#11, the workstation must be shutdown then turned on. Because EDIUS installer flashed later firmware. Upgraded firmware does not work until cold restarting of the workstation.

Commissioning

1) Sign into the OS with administrator privileges.

2) Press Win + R key then type devmgmt.msc and click [OK].

3) Ensure that installed video hardware appears under Sound, video and game controllers without ! or X mark.
