This knowledge base informs what things to do before / after reimaging EDIUS editing PC

Before reimaging

1. Backing up user presets / settings

If you want to preserve current presets / settings, back up them.

If you have user preset of effect, exporter, back up them

1-2. Backing up settings files
Back up below folder:

–  C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS
–  C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\EDIUS

  

2. Serial number

Ensure that you have the serial number that needs to be activated after reimaging the PC. The format of serial number is six numeric characters, -(hyphen), and sixteen alphanumeric characters.
If you lost the number, see ‘Ways to recover the serial number’ section 

 

3. Deactivate third party products

Deactivate the license if installed third party plug-in requires to do it.

     

4. Deactivate the licenses

If you activate both EDIUS and option licenses, deactivate all licenses listed in GV License Manager. For details, click below link:

Deactivate the license (On line mode)
Deactivate the license (Off line mode)

 

Ways to recover the serial number

There are two ways to recover the serial number:

1. If your license is being linked to eID, log into eID account page then go to License List page

2. If your license is not linked to eID, follow below steps:

1) Right-click on GV License Manager icon on taskbar notification area.
2) Select [License List] context menu
3) Right-click on the license then select [Confirm part of serial number…]
4) Note appeared number
5) If multiple licenses being activated, make a matrix of product name and partial serial number
6) Send the number or matrix to regional tech support

 

After reimaging

1. Restoring settings

Restore backed up settings to below location:

–  C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS
–  C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\EDIUS

 

2. Restoring user presets

Run EDIUS and activate the license. Once done, import user presets
