Entering Comments to Clip Markers

You can add a comment to clip markers that have been set.

1) Display a clip set with a clip marker on the Player.

2) Right-click on the clip marker on the position bar, and click [Edit clip marker].

  • When multiple clip markers are set on the same position on the position bar, [Edit clip marker] is not available.

3) In the [Edit Marker] dialog box, enter a comment and click [OK].

  • Entered comments are displayed on the Player when the slider is moved to the clip marker. When a clip marker with range has been set, the comment is displayed while the slider on the Player is in the In and Out point range of the clip marker.

    Comments are displayed on the Player also during playback. However, comments displayed during playback are only those of clip markers with range.

Alternative
  • Click the [Comments] field in the [Clip Marker] list.

  • Right-click the clip marker list, and click [Edit Marker].

  • Move the slider on the Player to the clip marker, click [Marker] on the menu bar, and click [Edit Marker]. Note that if multiple clip markers are set on the same position on the position bar, [Edit Marker] is not available.

  • Comment carriage return: [Ctrl] + [Enter]

  • You can also edit entered comments by the same operation.

  • Additions, deletions and edits made to clip markers are automatically reflected on clips in the bin. To leave behind the information of a clip before it is edited, register that clip to the bin as a different clip in advance.

    Registering between In and Out Points to the Bin As a Separate Clip (Subclip)

    When you add, delete, and edit the clip marker with a clip on the timeline displayed on the Player, register it to the bin as another clip, if necessary.

  • When a clip set with a clip marker has been placed on the timeline, the comment is displayed on the Recorder when the timeline cursor is moved to the position of the clip marker. When a clip marker with range has been set, the comment is displayed on the Recorder while the timeline cursor is between In and Out points of the clip marker.

    Comments are displayed on the Player also during playback. However, comments displayed during playback are only those of clip markers with range.

Note

  • When the focus is on the Recorder, comments cannot be entered to clip markers.

Changing Color of Clip Marker

The set color of clip markers can be changed.

1) Display a clip set with a clip marker on the Player.

2) On the [Clip Marker] list, click [Color] of a clip marker to change the color and select a desired color.

  • Selecting multiple clip markers can change the color at once.

  • The color of the clip marker that can be set are [Orange], [Red], [Yellow], [Blue], [Pink], and [Purple].

  • If you add the setting button of each color of clip marker to the [Clip Marker] list, you can set the clip markers of specific color simply by clicking the button.

Moving to the Clip Marker Position

You can jump to the position of set clip markers.

1) Click [Go to Previous Marker] or [Go to Next marker] in the [Clip Marker] list.

  • [Clip Marker] List

  • The clip marker moves forward or backward.

  • When the focus is on the Player, the slider moves to the position of the clip marker set to that clip.

  • When the focus is on the Recorder, the timeline cursor moves in order to the positions of the clip markers for clips selected on the timeline.

Alternative
  • In the clip marker list, double-click on the [No.] field of the clip marker on the position to move to.

  • Right-click the clip marker list, and click [Go to Previous Marker] or [Go to Next marker].

  • Moving to previous/next clip marker position: [Ctrl] + [←]/[Ctrl] + [→]

Importing Clip Marker Lists (Import)

You can import clip marker list files in XML or CSV format.

1) Display the clip at the import destination on the Player.

2) Click [Import Marker List] in the [Clip Marker] list.

3) In the [Open] dialog box, select an XML or CSV file, and click [Open].

Alternative
  • Click [Marker] on the menu bar, and click [Import Marker List].

  • Right-click the clip marker list, and click [Import Marker List].

Note

  • When the focus is on the Recorder, clip marker lists cannot be imported.

  • The color of all clip markers imported in the CSV format is orange.

  • XML format files cannot be imported to EDIUS version 9.2 and earlier.

Exporting Clip Marker Lists (Export)

You can export a clip marker list in the [Clip Marker] list to an XML or CSV file.

1) Display the clip, from which the clip marker list should be exported, on the Player.

2) Click [Export Marker List] in the [Clip Marker] list.

3) In the [Save As] dialog box, specify a file name and save destination.

4) Select the output format, and click [Save].

Alternative
  • Click [Marker] on the menu bar, and click [Export Marker List].

  • Right-click the clip marker list, and click [Export Marker List].

  • If the exported file is to be used on version 9.2 or earlier, save it in “Ver.2” or “Ver.3”.

  • If it is to be used on version 9.3 or later, save it in “Ver.4” that supports exporting information of [Color].

Note

  • When the focus is on the Recorder, clip marker lists cannot be exported.

  • Exporting [Color] information is not supported for CSV format files. All clip markers exported in CSV format will be orange clip markers.
