Notes on upgrading to EDIUS X

FAQ ID:000023005 | Date:2020/09/29

What should I be aware of when upgrading to EDIUS X?

Six things to consider before you upgrade to EDIUS X:

1. System Requirements

– EDIUS X only running in Windows 10 version 1903 or Windows 11. It no longer supports earlier version of Windows 10 (will be EOS soon) and 8.1, 8 and 7 (already EOS)

– EDIUS X requires a processor that supports AVX2 instruction set (4th Gen or newer generation of Intel Processor support it)

2. Supported video editing hardware
EDIUS X no longer supports several Grass Valley hardware and all Matrox hardware.

3. Third-party Plugin Software

– EDIUS X does not support the third-party plug-in software designed for previous versions of EDIUS.

–  After Effects plug-in and collaboration working with Sony software no longer supported

4. Project file compatibility

– EDIUS X is backwards-compatible with project files created with ‘-1’ earlier version of EDIUS. However, third-party filter effects or titles may not be imported. Dummy effects will be applied in these cases.

– Earlier version of EDIUS is NOT forwards-compatible with project files created with EDIUS X

– EDIUS X no longer supports several file formats and QuickTime for Windows. If the type of clip is/are loaded into a project, it/they will be offline.

5. Upgrading from earlier version of EDIUS

– If your EDIUS X is an upgrade version, you will be required to activate both EDIUS X and earlier version. Please do not deactivate earlier version’s license when uninstalling earlier version of EDIUS. GV License Manager validates both ‘Upgrade edition’ and earlier version of EDIUS when starting. If earlier version’s license would be deactivated, “Invalid license” will appear.

– Remaining copy of earlier version cannot be used in another PC

– Both upgrade edition and earlier version of EDIUS must be linked to same eID. You are not allowed to link each EDIUS license to different eID. If you no longer to use current eID (you would like to create and use new eID), contact to GV technical support along with both eIDs.

6. Internet connection
EDIUS X Pro requires internet connection for periodical eID (EDIUS ID) log in.
