EDIUS becomes unstable with 11th Gen Intel Processor and NVIDIA GPU

FAQ ID:000024519 | Date:2021/11/05

While playing H.264 or H.265 clip with hardware decoder, EDIUS becomes unstable. This may occur if EDIUS runs in 11th Gen Intel Processor and NVIDIA GPU environment

We have now fixed this issue in EDIUS 10.31.8487 build. We recommend to upgrade to the latest build. Click here to get the latest build.

Suggested workaround before releasing 10.31.8487

1. Stop using hardware decoder
    1) Choose Settings > System Settings > Importer / Exporter
    2) Go to AVCHD and HEVC pane
    3) Untick Use Hardware decoder
    4) Click [Apply] then [OK] button

2. Change NVIDIA settings not to be used by EDIUS
     1) Open NVIDIA Control Panel
     2) Navigate to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings
     3) At ‘1. Select a program to customize’, click [Add] button
     4) Choose EDIUS then click [Add Selected Program] button
-> If EDIUS is not listed, click [Browse] then choose C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\{EDIUSVER#}\EDIUS.exe by using
     5) Go to ‘2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program’
     6) Choose Integrated graphics
For EDIUS X, repeat step #3 to #6. At step#4 select C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\EHRenderWorker.exe
     7) Click [Apply] then close NVIDIA Control Panel

3. Deactivate NVIDIA GPU
Disable  NVIDEA GPU at the Windows Device Manager or remove the GPU hardware.

Limitation:
If you choose either #2 or #3 for workaround, please don’t use the exporter “H.264/AVC (NVIDIA)” and also “H.265/HEVC (NVIDIA)” even if they appear in the exporter list (only EDIUS X)
