On building Chorus / EDIUS Hub Server eco system, ​​​​​​​is there a way to specify the hub server without mDNS / DNS-SD. 

From EDIUS 10.31.8487 and EDIUS 11, EDIUS client will be able to specify the hub server without mDNS / DNS-SD. To do it, add registry values on each client.

Terminology

EDIUS client basically means EDIUS editing workstation. But if the floating license server and / or render engine server works on different computer, they are also categolized to EDIUS client. 

 

Preparation

NOTE: The .zip file is package of the registry files

Required action Should be done on
Ensure that all EH services are listed and they have running status Both the client & hub server
If necessary, configure the port number that EH services by using port config tool. Also make a note of changed port number – here is more details Hub server

Select the way to specify the hub server. Selection of the registry file depends on your selection. Reg files are zipped to the attached file.

– IP address: SpecifyServer_with_IP.reg
– Computer name: SpecifyServer_with_Name.reg

Procedure

Modify the registry values
   

1) Open the .reg file in Notepad

2) Modify the values then overwrite the .reg file

“EDIUS Hub Server Name”=”{HUBSERVERIP}

or

“EDIUS Hub Server Name”=”{HUBSERVERNAME}

Type the hub server IP
or computer name
“EDIUS Hub Server Port”=dword:000004ce Port number (default:1230)
   
Merge the registry
   
Follow below steps in each EDIUS client. If the external render engine is also running in separate computer, take the steps in the machine:
   

1) Open GV License Manager (select Exit context menu) from the notification tray at the bottom right of the desktop of the workstation.

2) Stop EH services – here is more details

3) Merge the registry

4) Start EH services – here is more details

5) Start GV License Manager from Start > Grass Valley > GV License Manager

  

Commissioning
   

1) Open GV License Manager (select Settings context menu) from the notification tray at the bottom right of the desktop of the workstation.

2) Ensure that “Use Floating License Server” is being ticked.

3) Click [OK] to close the settings

4) Confirm if EDIUS starts successfully 

 

Remove the settings

If you want to remove the settigns, follow below steps:

1) Open GV License Manager (select Exit context menu) from the notification tray at the bottom right of the desktop of the workstation.

2) Stop EH services – here is more details

3) Merge RemoveServerSettings.reg

4) Start EH services – here is more details

5) Start GV License Manager from Start > Grass Valley > GV License Manager
