Reset EDIUS settings to software default

FAQ ID:000025055 | Date:2022/12/12

I would like to reset EDIUS settings to software default. How I can do it?

EDIUS application settings (System settings, User settings and window layout, etc.) are stored in the setting files. These can be reset by deleting the files.

IMPORTANT NOTE

All settings will be lost by following the procedure. If necessary, backup user presets and restore it after confirmation of starting EDIUS successfully. Click the links in Related Content section more details.

Prerequisites

In EDIUS X, ensure that no job is queued or ongoing in GV Job Monitor. If any job is queued or ongoing, waiting for finishing or cancel it (them)

If you also want to reinstall the EDIUS, follow below steps:

1) From Apps, remove EDIUS, Mync, GV License Manager and DVD template (if installed) – here is more detail

2) If you install third party plug-in, from Apps & features, remove it (them) – All version of EDIUS

Procedure

1) Remove C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\{EDIUSVER#}

2) Remove C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\EDIUS\{EDIUSVER#}

3) Ensure that {EDIUSVER#} -1 folder doesn’t exist in #1 and #2. If exists, remove also them

4) Start EDIUS. It will start in software factory default

Procedure for simultaneous use of EDIUS

If you are working on simulteneous use of EDIUS, follow the below steps for temporal removing of older EDIUS settings. Because if it’s skipped, newer version will feed older version’s settings while starting at step#5

1) Remove C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\{EDIUSVER#}

2) Remove C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\EDIUS\{EDIUSVER#}

3) Create C:\EDIUSCfgBackup folder

4) Move {EDIUSVER#} -1 folder in both C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\ and C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\EDIUS\ to the folder that is created in step#3

5) Start EDIUS. It will start in software factory default

6) Quit EDIUS

7) Move back older version’s files from C:\EDIUSCfgBackup to original location

EDIUSVER#

Value of EDIUSVER# depends on EDIUS version. See below matrix
EDIUS version EDIUSVER#
EDIUS X 10.00
EDIUS 9 9.00
EDIUS 8 8.00
EDIUS 7 7.0

Delete editing profile folder

If deleting the file solves the issue and there are multiple EDIUS user profiles, you may also need to delete the setting file in each user profile folder. Procedure is different due to the profile type:

Local Profile

1) Open C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\[EDIUSVER]\Setting\User folder.
2) Open Userxxx\Setting folder.
3) Delete CtsGuiSettings.esp file.
4) Start EDIUS.

Network Profile

1) Open network profile folder.
2) Open [EDIUS VER]\User\Userxxx\Setting folder.
3) Delete CtsGuiSettings.esp file.
4) Start EDIUS.

*Userxxx starts from User000. For example, if you have three profiles. User000, User001, User002 folders will exist.
