"The audio adjustment level is too large error appears" when printing to a file

Symptom

You may encounter of failing timeline export to a clip. This may caused by failing normalize loudness. Issue depends on your editor type:

EDIUS X Workgroup

EDIUS Workgroup 9 (stand-alone)

EDIUS Workgroup 9 (STRATUS Hi-res editor)
In case of local render, printing timeline to a clip fails by ‘The audio adjustment level is too large. Unknown error 0x87020030 (0x87020030)’ error
If you export the timeline via GV Render Engine, you will see 0x87020030 error code in the comment field of the conform job in STRATUS Jobs Monitor

EDIUS XS (9 Gen) proxy editor
Printing timeline to a clip fails. You will see 0x87020030 error code in the comment field of the conform job in STRATUS Jobs Monitor

Cause

Normalize Loudness process might fail by below reason (either one):

1. Difference of loudness level between measured “Integrated” loudness level and “Target” level is larger than 12LKFS

2. Your timeline has no audio (only video)

Solution

For #1:
There are two ways to use normalize audio (either one below)

1. Modify timeline audio level to be more higher loudness level

2. Set more lower target level in the System settings

For #2:
Disable NormalizeLoudness option. If the error occurs in XS, taking this is only option. Procedure depends on EDIUS edition as below:

Stand-alone editor / EDIUS STRATUS hi-res editor

1) Open file exporter dialog then choose an exporter that you want to use.

2) Check “Enable Conversion” box then expand advanced settings pane.

3) Uncheck “NormalizeLoudness” option.

4) Configure rest of parameters then click [Export] button.

EDIUS XS proxy editor

1) Quit EDIUS if running

2) Navigate to C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\9.00\User\Userxxx

3) Open SpecialPresets.tpd file by using Notepad.

4) Search out ‘Stratus Exporter’ in the file then search out ‘enableloudnessnormalize’

5) At ‘loudness_enableloudnessnormalize’ change the value to 0

6) Overwrite the file

7) At the Stratus core, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\AppSettings\{STRATUS USER NAME}

8) Remove EdiusSpecialPresets.xml file if the file exists

9) Restart EDIUS then try export via STRATUS Send
