UI windows are allocated across over multiple monitor

FAQ ID:000025787 | Date:2023/09/06

When running EDIUS in multiple monitors environment, UI windows are allocated across over multiple monitor. I expect allocating the windows only in single monitor.

When starting a project, EDIUS detects Windows desktop size and allocates UI windows automatically as designed. There is no way to alloccate the UI only in single window when running in multiple monitor environment. UI layout needs to be modified manually.

Follow below steps to get & keep expected window layout:

Prerequisite:
Ensure that Extended multiple screen has been configured correctly. Confirm whether below settings are correct on each monitor settings:

– “Make this my main display” is ticked in the monitor settings that you want to use as main display.

– Scale value, display resolution and display orientation are configured correctly.

IMPORTANT NOTE
If multiple users use same computer, you cannot have different settings in above for each profile

Procedure

  1. Run EDIUS (start new project)
  2. UI windows are allocated across over multiple monitors. Modify the window layout to locate all windows in single monitor.
  3. Select View > Save Current Layout > New
  4. Type preset name like Default then click [OK].
  5. Quit EDIUS.
  6. On subsequent running, EDIUS will strat with modified UI layout.
If you have multiple profiles, follow further steps below:

  1. Start new project with another profile then quit EDIUS. Take this step for all remaining profiles.
  2. Once step#7 completed, quit EDIUS.
  3. Navigate to C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\9.00\User\User000\Setting.
  4. Copy Setting.esp file (this file contains UI layout information). Copy this file to C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\{EDIUS VER}\User\{Userxxx}\Setting
    * {Userxxx} is user profile folder. If multiple profiles exist, it starts from User000. Setting.esp of User000 is master window layout. Copy it to remaining folders.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Setting.esp also contains System and User settings. These settings will be changed to same settings as User000 by copying the .esp file.
